Plan your next stay at Lavender & Thyme Bed & Breakfast to coincide with the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park Music on the Mountain series, which begins on Saturday, August 14. This year’s concert series will include six evenings of live music and drink specials on top of Iron Mountain, with free tram rides and admission in exchange for a canned food donation for the LIFT-UP food pantry. Guests will be able to ride the tram for free, up to a $12 value, with the donation of at least one can of food per rider, beginning at 4 p.m. on the day of each concert. The bands will perform from 6 – 10 p.m.

“The Music on the Mountain concerts were so popular and so much fun last year, that we decided to continue and expand the series this year,” explained Steve Beckley, who owns Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park with his wife Jeanne. “We have a great line up of bands and are really looking forward to seeing how many cans of food we can collect for LIFT-UP.”

Last year, the Adventure Park collected more than 800 cans of food from its two Music on the Mountain concerts. Beckley added, “LIFT-UP serves more and more families every year. We are hoping that we can really come together as a community and fill up the shelves at the food pantry this fall.”

Starcher Hutsen will kick-off the concert series on Aug. 14 with a unique blend of acoustic sounds, featuring Stan Orr, vocals and rhythm guitar; Matt Stinson, lead guitar and vocals; Sonja Linman, keyboard; Carson Wilde, drums; and Kelly Gabossi, vocals. Starcher Hutsen came together in 2006 quite by accident when neighbors Matt and Stan discovered their common passion for guitars. At their first gig as a band, the club owner asked Kelly to join them for a couple of songs and they’ve been together ever since.

Upcoming shows include: Rock Dogs, high-energy rock-n-roll grooves, on Aug. 21; Derringer, the region’s hottest country rock band, on Aug. 28; KrossroadZ, an eclectic blend of dancing music, on Sept. 11; Cottonwood Acoustic, bluegrass originals and newgrass jams, on Sept. 18; and The Missing Link Band will wrap up the season with rock and R&B on Sept. 25. The Glenwood Springs Post Independent, The Aspen Times and KSPN Radio have joined Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park as media partners for the series.

The Lookout Grille and the Snack Shack will be open for dinner and refreshments during the concerts, with $2.50 Coors Lights, $3 Coronas and glasses of wine, and $4 well drinks. Guests will not be allowed to bring food or alcohol into the park. The Adventure Park’s rides and attractions will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. During the concerts, a Day Pass will cost just $27 with the free tram ride, and will include unlimited access to the Alpine Coaster, new Giant Canyon Swing, Ft. WhereAmI maze, Bungee Trampolines, 4D Ride Theater, Laser Tag, Demon the Mechanical Bull, Wild West Wagon, Speleobox cave simulator, Doc’s Rock climbing wall and Giddy Up! Western ride.  For more information about Music on the Mountain, call 945-4228, ext. 0.
